A fire had left this grade I listed, predominantly 13th century parish church severely damaged, leaving the interior burnt out and the nave roof and clerestorey totally destroyed. The practice was appointed by competitive interview as architects for the rebuilding project. Working in partnership with the church, a scheme was drawn up which grasped the opportunity presented by this catastrophe to re-order the interior of the building and carry out some additional enhancement works to provide new facilities to meet the needs of the local community into the 21st century.

Whilst the basic fabric of the building was repaired, a completely new nave roof (to a different design and earlier roof pitch) was constructed, underfloor heating was incorporated into the new floor, new timber glazed screens introduced to the tower arch and organ chamber and a design for a new two-storey extension approved. The practice was also responsible for the design of all the new sanctuary and choir furniture as well as two new stained glass windows.
