The site is located in a public park in the centre of Spalding, part of the original grounds to Ayscoughfee Hall (C.15, Grade I listed) and listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. Unfortunately antisocial behavior has led to this wonderful facility becoming less used and cared for. Working with South Holland District Council and Heritage Lincolnshire we proposed a regeneration scheme which aimed to revitalise old activities and facilities for new ones. As part of this a contemporary new pavilion is to replace an existing poor quality structure, acting as a focal point, shelter and performance space, addressing and re-animate the lawn area which it addresses. The design uses a dynamic cantilevered flitch timber frame, taking inspiration from the geometry of the formal gardens, the typology of park bandstands and the classic 'Anglepoise' Type 75 desk lamp.
