As expert conservation consultants, we worked in conjunction with the in-house design team to adapt and restore the historic shop unit to its former glory, while offering a high quality contemporary retail service that H&M offer.

The approach taken was one of minimum intervention of the historic fabric where the new elements required for the operation of the new store were introduced with clarity and simplicity of new against old to avoid confusion and to respect the original design of the building. The opportunity was also taken to reveal the significant parts of the building through the removal of later partitions and the limited reinstatement and repair of these features.
